Tortoise Beetle brooch hand embroidered entomology jewelry

True-to-life and eye-catching, it transports you right back to your childhood.

Relive the sunny afternoons crouching in the yard on the warm grass, beguiled by the beetle wending its way along the walk. Entranced by the long line of ants carrying their treasures home. Mesmerized before the spider’s industrious weaving.

Here is a tortoise beetle (Cassidinae) a subfamily of the leaf beetles, or Chrysomelidae.

Product Description:
I've embroidered this specimen with cotton floss in bright blue, turquoise and dark blue, plus blue metallic for the legs, onto vintage linen. This little beetle is encased in an oval silver tone metal frame with a brooch clasp on the back. Please note that the clasp runs lengthwise and is slightly to one side of the oval, rather than in the center.

Frame measures 2" x 1.5" (50 x 36 mm)

You'll receive the blue beetle. In photos 4 & 5, you can see him with other beetles from the collection.

If you didn’t collect insects as a child, you might just become a collector from now on!
