A trip to the thrift shop today didn’t turn up a kettle. I need one now that I let my vintage copper kettle burn, with not enough water in it. I consoled myself with a trip to another thrift shop, a block away from our apartment: Emmaüs, where I found this vintage table runner with beautiful lace trim. When I saw it, I knew it was perfect for…something!

The pale yellow fabric will most likely become moth wings. There’s enough lace to use some for a creature to add to my menagerie, and some to print on clay.

For now it’s draped over the chair, while I let the ideas come.
